Jonas, Andrew or anyone:

I purchased a Belkin USB bluetooth dongle which I connected to my iMac running OS 10.3.9 and Clicker. That works fine. But the range was just a little bit short of what I was going for.

So I purchased a LinkSys Class 1 USB bluetooth dongle. I cannot get that to work with Clicker. I can pair the Treo 650 to the iMac over the LinkSys bluetooth. But when I try to connect Clicker, I get a timeout. If I swap the LinkSys dongle for the Belkin one, I can get Clicker to connect without problem.

I also cannot do a bluetooth hotsync from the Treo to the iMac using the Linksys dongle, but can do so with the Belkin dongle.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Rick Oberndorf

Hi,

As this is not a Clicker problem, I moved the topic.

I think you're having a pairing problem. Are you by any chance still connecting to the Belking dongle? How do you differentiate between the two from your Palm? (they will show under the same name, as your computer is the same)

Best.

Jonas,

I do not plug both dongles into the iMac at the same time. Only one or the other. When the Belkin dongle is plugged in, everything works. When the Linksys dongle is plugged in, it doesn't work.

I can go through the pairing procedure (initiated from the iMac) equally well with both dongles.

Maybe it's possible that I need to upgrade to Tiger? I'm planning on doing that in a few weeks anyway.

Thanks,
Rick

Rick,

I think you misunderstood me.

Your Mac will list under the same name on your Palm, regardless of what dongle is in use.

If you perform a device scan on the Palm, you should see two items with the same name.

Unless you did a device scan, you will see only one item. This item represents your Belkin dongle, which is not connected, hence the "timeout" error.

Best.

Jonas,

After your last message, I looked in the list of trusted devices on the Treo. There were two iMacs. Now I see the problem.

So I deleted both trusted iMac devices from the Treo, and deleted the Treo from the iMac's bluetooth devices list, then re-paired with the Linksys dongle connected.

It's working now!

MUCH THANKS FOR THE HELP!!!!

Rick

I'm having the same problem described in this thread with a Hawking Technologies Class 1 dongle. I have removed my d-link dongle, deleted the computer from my phone (& vice versa), but the Salling Clicker won't work. iSync is fine as is BT file exchange. Am I missing something obvious??

Thanks!
