UPDATED: I've added some stuff, and the controller now checks for Media Library functionality.

This controller requires:

1. Winamp "Full", with Media Library functionality.
2. ActiveWinamp plugin:
http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=143299

This Winamp controller currently offers:
- Browse by Artist, with play now, queue, play album, etc.
- Play/pause
- Rate track
- FFW/Rew/Skip/Previous
- Volume control
- Pause on Away and Phone Activity

Best.

Hey, it worked 0) I did have some issues, though:

The Media Player on the phone says "lost contact w", which I guess means that the remote failed to get song info etc. from Winamp.

The "Browse by artists" script doesn't show any artists.

Could it be that you rely on the media library for this? I don't think I have that in my version of Winamp5, I either chose not to install it or I have somehow disabled it. I actually can't remember =)

[code:1] var playlist = wo.Playlist;
var mediaItem = playlist.Item( playlist.position );
if( songRow != null ) songRow.textualContent = mediaItem.Title;
if( artistRow != null ) artistRow.textualContent = mediaItem.Artist;
if( playlistRow != null ) playlistRow.textualContent = playlist.position + " of " + playlist.Count;
if( albumRow != null ) albumRow.textualContent = mediaItem.Album;[/code:1]

This is how I did it:

[code:1] var playlist = winamp.Playlist;

// playlist
var playlistCount = playlist.Count;
var playlistPos = playlist.Position;

// track title
songRow.textualContent = winamp.playlist(playlistPos).ATFString("%title%");
artistRow.textualContent = winamp.playlist(playlistPos).ATFString("%artist%");
playlistRow.textualContent = playlistPos + " of " + playlistCount;[/code:1][/list:u](Note that I don't do a fallback, but it's just a hack anyway)

I have version 1.0 of ActiveWinamp.

I did a rather full install of Winamp (same ActiveWinamp version as you, though).

Better add some more error checking to catch this case in a more sensible way.

On your Winamp, I take it the Browse by Artist script won't work then, eh?

Best.
On your Winamp, I take it the Browse by Artist script won't work then, eh?
Nope. As I said, it shows an empty row.

But I'm still a bit suspicious of why I don't get track names. That isn't a MediaLibrary object you're interacting with, right?

I added a new version in the top post of this thread. As Media Library functionality is going to be required to do anything fun (i.e. search and browse for tracks, it is a requirement).

In the new version, I've tried to detect the case where media library is not available.

Best.

For what it's worth, I'm on 5.11. Perhaps upgrading will help? If so, I'll modify the requirements list.

Best.

maybe there's a mistake in the zip file uploaded on the site because if i try only this package :

WinampRemote[1].v1.0.c.win.zip

I'm able to load winamp and read the current track. I have no other scripts with this package.

If i copy the content of AWinamp.zip in the "my clicker scripts" i'm not able to load winamp because i get the "lost ...." issue.

I updated to this version, rebooted :

Winamp 5.112
* Fixed: burning crash with EQ enabled
* Fixed: [in_mp3] id3v1->id3v2 copy glitch

Full version. Full install.

Please if you can, zip the items present in your folder about Winamp and let me try it...

Unfortunately, the whole package is a bit bigger than my email server likes to send.

Before proceeding, could you please let me know what version of ActiveWinamp you got? So far, I've tested with the 1.0 version, not with the version kept in CVS.

Best.

I also tried the latest version of winamp on my laptop, same result : lost error with winamp.

Do i have to check something in the preferences? When i install i select "FULL" but i remove the file associatons. Maybe could it be that the issue?

Do i have to import the files into media library? is it not enough to have a playlist?

Add files to the media library. Sounds like that might be it.
