I am a long time user. I had a Sony T637 and loved the compatability with your program. I upraded to a z520a and now I cannot connect from the Phone to the Computer. I seem to be able to connect from the computer to the phone just fine.

Here is the error I get on the phone when I try and connect.

Cannot Connect (reason:java.lang.SecurityException)

I hope you can help. I love this program and want to continue using it.

Hi,

You must install the client application over WAP, as per the instructions. That'll completely take care of your problem.

Best.

hey I just got one and I have the same problem.

The trouble is that WAP access is kinda insanely expensive. Isn't there another way?

I tried every way to do it other then WAP. You just need to do it once. Then it works great. Wont cost too much for just this.

If you can find a way to mount the phone on your computer, you can copy the jar and jad files to the "Other" folder on the phone. The select the *JAD* file from the phone's file browser to install.

Downloading 95kb over WAP is not expensive, however, no matter how you look at it.

Best.

That is problematic. Sounds like your network blocks access to Java content.

What network is it?

Best.

Hm. So far, I've had plenty of Cingular-users successfully install the application over WAP. I don't know if Cingular has changed their policies in that regard. Perhaps someone else can chime in?

Anyways. Here's a method that may or may not work on your phone that doesn't involve. Hold on and follow these steps to the letter:

1. Download these and locate the files in Finder:
http://wap.salling.com/thawte/SallingClicker.jad (ctrl-click the link to download the file)
http://wap.salling.com/thawte/SallingClicker.jar (ctrl-click the link to download the file)

2. Verify that you now have the files "SallingClicker.jar" and "SallingClicker.jad" on your Mac.

3. Select "Bluetooth menu" -> "Browse Device" -> Pick your Z520a

4. Open the folder "Other"

5. Drag both the JAR and JAD file into this folder on your phone.

6. Disconnect Bluetooth File Exchange

7. On your phone, open the file manager, and then the "Other" folder

8. Identify which file is the JAD file (this is *very* important; otherwise the whole trick is worthless). On my phone, it was the first one (the files are shown without extensions); use More->Information to find out which one is the JAD file.

9. Open the SallingClicker.jad file to attempt to install the signed version of Salling Clicker on your phone. Again, make absolutely sure you're selecting the JAD (and not the JAR file).

10. Once installed, you may remove the files from the "Other" folder.

Let us know how this works. It is also important that your phone's date is set correctly for this to work.

Best.

No problem. Hopefully, others will find it useful.

As a side-note, I have to confess I love Sony Ericsson for offering so many alternative (and platform-independent) ways of installing applications. It's a big difference from other manufacturers. Makes it easier to work around operators' crippling attempts. ;-)

Best.
