Jonas makes it to Forbes!!!

One popular shareware application making the rounds right now, called
Sony Ericsson Clicker, allows a Sony Ericsson phone with Bluetooth to
act like a remote control for Bluetooth-ready Macintosh computers from
Apple Computer (nasdaq: AAPL -news -people ). The software lets users
control music, video or presentations on the Mac from across a room.

(Forbes online -

Chalk another up for the Clicker! and Jonas!

I am now getting *nothing* synched in my calendars. I have a lot of
reoccurring events, but it doesn't even seem to be synching non reoccurring
events.

Also, sometimes my contacts contain their email addresses and sometimes they
don't. These are some weird things that I can only attribute to MobileSync
as that is how I have been synching my contacts my entire time using the
T68i.

(if you want me to take this off list, with you, that would be fine)

Prototype phones are circulated to Sony Ericsson employees (who provide
user feedback), to operators (to convince them to buy them) and to some
external developers who are developing software that needs to work with
the phones. The supply of these phones is very limited, NDAs are signed
and it is strictly forbidden to give them to anyone else. If the SEC
(or other software) becomes very popular then Sony Ericsson might
consider providing phones to Jonas for testing, but I can say from
personal experience that 'harder than squeezing blood from a stone' is
a pretty good way to describe their policy. These prototypes are
naturally buggy (since they are still in development) which is one
reason Sony Ericsson do not like them to be circulated.

The phones also change a lot during prototyping, for instance the
memory stick was a late addition to the P800, and did not appear on
most prototypes.

It sounds like a few people on this list get access to these
prototypes, I would say the best way to test SEC on the new phones
prior to their release is for these people to do the testing and flag
any issues to Jonas. Personally I sometimes get access to prototypes,
and promise to test them with SEC if / when I get the opportunity.

One phone to look out for is the T608
(http://electronics.cnet.com/electronics/0-20497514-8-20909496-
1.html?tag=plug) - it's a CDMA phone with bluetooth that is using
pretty much the same software as the T610.

On 3/6/03 3:57 PM, "coffeebuzzard" wrote:

The problem is that some spaces get dropped when you copy the scripts from
the web page. In several of the scripts, there are repeat loops that go
something like this:

repeat with i from 1 to some_value

When you paste the script, the space after the variable "i" is dropped and
the line ends up like this:

repeat with ifrom 1 to some_value

This results in an AppleScript compile error. You can try compiling the
script in Script Editor first, which should pinpoint the specific line on
which the error occurs. Keep compiling until the errors cease and then paste
it into the SEC prefpane.

BTW, the "Screen Capture" script works best if you put it in "Message Box
Format" instead of as a script. Used this way, you get feedback on your
phone when the screen capture is complete. Also, if you change the return
line to:

return "Screen capture at: " & target_path

You'll know right where the script saved the image. HTH.

Olly has it right, because of my job I have access to pre-release devices and currently we an early SonyEricsson T610. As he says the prototype phones are often very buggy, the T610 seems fine but is just very slow. It is a nice phone with a very good camera and screen.

I confirm that it works for me, but it does return an error if the
MPlayer playlist is empty, because the button is not selectable (dimmed).

Perhaps it's a problem with a certain version of MPlayer? I'm using
MPlayer OS X version 1.1 (v1.1). Given that, in different versions, even
the name is different (MPlayer OSX), the Play button controller may have
a different name too.

You can test it yourself using Apple's UI Element Inspector www.apple.com/applescript/GUI/UI-Inspector.sit>

Just launch the app, roll the mouse pointer over the button, and look at
the button name in the inspector window.

It would be helpfull to have a progress bar that is more detailed (iSync shows you total data tranferred). I ran into problems where MobileSync was trying to "Reconcile" the calendar and waited for over 20 mins, thinking that it takes that long. I had no way of knowing if anything was happening and had to delete the entire calendar and try again.

Also, can we expect an update to MobileSync soon? I use Entourage and just registered MobileSync. It is great but it does not do a great job of synching the email addresses (should be the default email set up in Entourage). And it doesn't synch tasks. Applescript support would be great too, but with GUI scripting this is minor.

Maybe MobileSync could be built into the Clicker?

I really understand if you want an update. That said, I hope you
understand that *one man* can only do so much (I do this in my spare
time). I need to focus on Clicker for the moment being; anything else
would be crazy.

PS. You can change which email address is synchronized by means of a
hidden default. Either search the archives, or I will let you know how
to do this. God knows, it may even be in the manual... ;-) (not sure
about this)

Jonas,

I understand your workload. I didn't mean to say that I want an update ASAP. I just meant to ask you if you intended further development since there is a lot of talk about Addressbook. Thanks for clarifying.

I'll look on the archives for the email issue. Thanks.

Well, these boards aren't very good for searching. I looked but couldn't find it and it is not in the help for MobileSync. If you get a chance, please post it.

What I think is happening is that it synchs the first Work contact, but I would like it to sync whichever email I set as default in Entourage.

Another thing I noticed that is probably a limitation of Ericsson, there doesn't seem to be a way to set My Contact (in Entourage) as my Bus. card in the T68i. If I create another bus card I end up with a duplicate.

This isn't very important, but when you get a chance to breathe, let me know if there is a solution.

Thanks!!

Marcelo
