I've spent some time this weekend and and reinvented the wheel ;-) - I've reimplemented the Unlocker-Concept (from "bohrsatom") but this time it's possible to set the hotkeys (ALT-key-combinations) for direct accessing the username- and the password-field of the login-screen.
Because many of you had the same problem as I with the original Unlocker-version I thought some of you would be interessted in the new version I've implemented. So I want to share it for all.
greez,

This really is a perfect idea for a script, but it seems not to be working on Windows Vista.
I'm running Home Premium with only one user account, so all you need to do is to type the password and press ENTER.
Please, could you modify it so that it works for Vista too?

i don't have a vista locally installed but i can modify the script so that the username won't be entered - just only the password.
if this is enough for you - i will spend some time this or next week to implement it.

It would be perfect :)
All that's needed is to enter password and press enter ;)

do you have to press "ctrl-alt-del" before entering the password?
and is there a ALT+XXXX --> key-combination to select the password-field (e.g. ALT+p)

Nothing like that, just password and enter...
No need to select fields etc.

if you lock your computer - do you have to press "CTRL-ALT-DEL" to get to the screen to enter the password again?

Nope, the login-screen is there all the time and all I have to do is to enter the password and press enter...

please test what happens if you press "CTRL-ALT-DEL" when you have locked your computer and you see the password-field.
does anything change - or is the "CTRL-ALT-DEL" cmd ignored by the unlock-screen.

Nothing happened, so it seems to be ignored

ok - that's good.
please also check what happens if you press the keycombination "ALT+p" or "ALT+k".
is the cursor even in the passwordfield and you can enter the password without selecting the password-field with the mouse-cursor again?

Nothing happens when I press ALT+P and ALT+K, the cursor is still in the password-field, waiting for me to enter the password.

that's good news.
have you already testet the unlocker as i've uploaded it (from june 17th)?
does the unlocker enter username and password in the password-field?
or does it remain empty?
because if it remains empty - i fear - we have a problem

Think we have a problem then, because it's not entering something. When I manually log in again, I see message a message saying that MyUnlockerLauncher.exe has stopped working :|

that's really a problem. i'm afraid of that windows vista does kill the unlocker-app - because it tries to get controll over the unlock-screen :-|
no good news anymore - i think it doesn't make sense to change the unlocker-app.
maybe i will install vista on my pc sometimes and test if i can make the unlocker-app run again.
