Ok I am trying to test the demo version of salling clicker, a MacBook and a SonyEricsson w850i.

First I downloaded it to my computer, then during setup it sent it to my phone for me, no good. I got this message: Cannot connect (reason:java.lang.SecurityException)

So I found this thread:
http://www.salling.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5595&highlight=cannot+connect+security

Where I heard that I need to go to http://wap.salling.com with my phone to download a third party verified version.

On that page I could download from 'download and install', 'unsigned', 'Verisign signed', 'Thawte signed'.

'Download and install' wouldn't do anything, Verisign and Thawte would 'fail', but Unsigned worked. But of course, with the 'Unsigned' version, it said that no permissions were granted.

So I found this thread:
http://www.salling.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5620&highlight=java+lang+securityexception

Where it was suggested to go get the JAD/JAR files with my comp, and USB them to my phone. So I did, but still have no permissions.

Now when I click the Salling icon on my Mac's toolbar I have the option to 'disconnect, so I am connected in a way. It's my phone that won't let me do something back.

I'm sorry if this has been answered somewhere already, the only two I found didn't seem to work.

Thanks in advance for dealing with yet another newbie.

Did you get rid of the security exceptions? It sounds to me like you've got a locked down phone, and a carrier that blocks Java content from outside their network. That'd explain why you were able to install by moving the JAR and JAD to the phone.

I don't quite understand the last part of your description. Could you please check what version of the client you got installed on your phone?

Best.

I have version 3.5.60 installed. What I mean by 'it is connected in a way' is the pic. (see the attached picture)

My computer gives me an option to disconnect, yet my phone says it won't let me connect....

I just unsure what to do.

Thanks[/img]

Okay. Two questions:

1. Do you have a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse connected to your Mac?

2. Does it help if you disable the checkbox "Authentication" in Salling Clicker -> Settings _> Bluetooth?

Best.

I don't have any other bluetooth device hooked to my computer.

I unchecked the checkbox "Authentication" in Salling Clicker, but still get the same security error.

Okay. Then the only reason for this not working think of is that your carrier has done their best to make sure you cannot use Java applications that use Bluetooth.

What carrier did you buy this phone from?

Also, I take it you tried restarting your phone and your Mac?

Best.

I have a Sony Ericsson w850i, working on the Cingular/AT&T Network.

When I search (on my phone) for a device to connect to, my computer does show up, but the connect fails due to the first security warning I posted.

Thank You again for all your help.

(by the way, I have sent plenty of things from and to my computer with the w580i, so I am connected via bluetooth)

Am I correct in understanding that you've managed to check on the phone whether the client is granted "trusted 3rd-party" privileges?

And that it is *not* granted these privileges, even though you moved the JAR and JAD to the phone, and launched the JAD to begin installation?

Also, I'd like to know if you've got the K850 or W580. You're mentioning both in your posts.

When performing the jar/jad "magic steps", is it possible that you selected to launch the JAR instead of the JAD? That'd result in you getting no privileges.

Best.

Sorry about the multiple phone posts, I have the w580i.

On my phone it says that I have no permissions.

It might have been that I launched the incorrect file first. So I deleted Salling Clicker from my phone and reinstalled via the JAD file. Still getting the same security notification.

Thanks

Okay. Where did you get the JAR and JAD?

These should be appropriate paths for you to download on your Mac:

http://www.salling.com/wap/thawte/SallingClicker.jad
http://www.salling.com/wap/thawte/SallingClicker.jar

(Make sure to remove the old files from your computer first, so you don't mix things up)

Best.

Ok, I deleted the JAR/JAD files from my computer and phone.

I downloaded them both from the links that you provided to my computer.

Then I bluetoothed the JAR to my phone no problem.

When I try to bluetooth the JAD file to my phone, it says 'Operation Failed'. I notice that my computer obviously doesn't know what kind of file the JAD is due to the kind of icon that is by it (the blank page). I don't know if this would affect it....

You cannot Bluetooth the JAD to the phone. You must find another way of moving both the JAD and JAR to the phone.

Ok, I used a flash drive to take the JAR/JAD files to a PC, then USB to phone.

Then I installed the JAD file. Still same error.

Thanks again, sorry this is taking so long.

Okay. Could you please check the Java certificate store in the Security menu of your phone? Do they have Thawte and/or Verisign in there?

I know Cingular has blocked Bluetooth access (as specced in the JAD file) on other phone brands. Until now at least, this was not the case on Sony Ericsson phones. but the W580i is new, and it's possible that AT&T has tightened it up, in which case you'd be out of luck.

Best.

Ok, not really sure what all this means, so I'll just tell you what is in the Security Java section.

Sony Ericsson
GeoTrust CA for UTI
Thawte Premium Server CA
VeriSign Class 3
Cingular Preferred - Java
Cingular Trusted - Java
