Hi,

thanx for MobileSynch: it worked great for my SonyEricsson T68i under Entourage X!

Alas, for technical reasons I had to update to Entourage 2004, and now MobileSynch doesn't see any Categories any more. When I click the "change" button, it only shows "All categories".

What has changed? What to do?

Thanx

Did you restart the system, to make sure the new Entourage Database Daemon is running?

Hi Jonas,

I should have dug a little deeper into this forum...:

I updated Office 2004 to 11.1.0. I installed Handheld, including the missing Palm HotSync Folder. I deleted the old Office X. I restarted. It works nicely.

BUT: I need to combine the new Entourage 2004 with the old Word X, because the new Word 2004 has an ugly bugs imported from the Windows version. This combination (old Word, new Entourage) otherwise works ok.

Any time the old Word X runs, it seems somehow to update this OfficeSync Prefs file to Office X. And then MobileSynch doesn't see the new Entourage 2004. However, Entourage does not seem to change the Officeynch Prefs file. Now I'm back to square one...

Cheers

Thanks for digging. :-)

Here's something you may want to try: get it set up correctly (for 2004) and then lock the file so it's not modifiable (but readable).

Perhaps that'll work?

Best.

whoever needs this odd combination of old Word X and new Entourage 2004: the following solution is far from elegant, but works for me.

I seem to have a consistent pattern now: When logging in freshly, the Entourage Daemon 2004 overwrites the "OfficeSync Prefs" file and points it to Office 2004. Immediately thereafter MobileSynch works correctly.

But: after the old Word X or Excel X has run (once is enough), it overwrites the "OfficeSync Prefs" file and redirects it to Entourage X, which doesn't exist anymore. Then MobileSynch cannot work.

So: whoever needs this special combination of old and new Offices: reboot or logon freshly, and synching works. Just make sure that Word X or Excel X is not started automatically directly after startup.

Jonas: thanks again for this great software (the Clicker, too): without it, my life would be a lot more difficult...

Ciao

Hi Jonas,

sorry -- postings crossed.

Your solution works and is far more elegant!

Thank you very much, now all is back to normal.

Ciao
