Just like the iTunes and WMP remotes but for Winamp. When somebody writes this, I will be purchasing this beautiful program.

So far I've put a few basic scripts (using this http://www.flippet.org/wacommand-commands.html) for basic pause/play etc functionality but nothing like the real remote scripts provided for itunes and wmp. my knowledge of js is nonexistent.

I'm sure somebody will get to it eventually (esp since clicker for windows has only been out for a few days) but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway. Thanks!

This would be my killer app. I use Winamp as my primary music player. Develop this to perfection and I will almost immediately purchase a license for Windows (I already own one for Mac).

As WinAmp lacks scriptability, I'm afraid it'll be difficult to reach "perfection" in the sense that we can get information about the currently playing track to the device display.

This would be possible with a scriptable wrapper for Winamp, and I think there's a winamp plugin to that effect, but I do not know if it works well.

I thought I read development on winamp stopped about a year ago. Am I completely misinformed?

Cheers.
I'm afraid it'll be difficult to reach "perfection" in the sense that we can get information about the currently playing track to the device display.
Well, actually...

Winamp5 (which is what I'm testing) is capable of returning quite a bit of nifty data. This thread says it's outdated, but all the stuff I've tested (playback status, playlist position, playback timer etc) has worked quite well.

Keep them fingers crossed...

Edit: Yep, I was right. Seems Winamp returns a pointer to the track name, not the track name itself. I have no idea how to solve that.

I might aswell tease you with what I've got so far, though:

Looks like you're doing quite well! Looking forward to seeing this, and ping me if there's anything I can add to facilitate.

Best.
Looks like you're doing quite well! Looking forward to seeing this, and ping me if there's anything I can add to facilitate.
Well, it would be some JScript guidance. As I mentioned, Winamp returns a pointer to the track name - if I try to type it out, it just says "398659498".

AFAIK, pointers are in C++ but not JScript. Any way we could solve that? Could Clicker maybe intercept the data somehow?

Could you possibly post what you have so far so we can take a look, and possibly help out?

He's been experimenting with an upcoming build of Salling Clicker that has some additional interop features.

Let me know if you too would like to play with that. I can share what I have for Winamp.

Best.

I'm not unwilling to share. Just trying to avoid confusion by having too many different versions floating around.

I'll email you.

Best.

There are tons of programs around that somehow get information from Winamp. I just lack the knowledge and resources to really help in this area. But from what I can tell, since there are tons of crap programs out there, anyone can make something that gets information from Winamp. I'm sure the Winamp forums would be a good source of info.

I've posted requests on the Winamp forums for added functionality, but this is nothing we can expect to happen overnight - if at all.

Rest assured, though, that there will be a Winamp remote for Clicker.
