Is there a reason only "browse by artist" is supported, and not the other browsing options available in iTunes, like browse by Album, browse by Genre?

Yeah, in part. "By genre" is hindered by lack of fast searching in iTunes scripting functions.

Best way for you to get what you feel is lacking is by sending a feature request from here:
