Foobar2k Remote v.1.05 (custom alpha)
[JOEKER | Oct.-Nov. 2010]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Based on / modification of foobar2000 Remote 20070531 by OddbOd
http://www.salling.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5561&highlight=foobar
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[New in version 1.05]

- More menu options for touchscreen devices (thanks bubbles for request)

- Folder indexer (optional)

Alternative to Media Library, recursively indexing specified folders (indexer.ini) to db file
Select Menu ++ or press '*' -> Folder: Search / Index / Info / Recent

Info: Last indexed / folders to index
Index: Launches indexer.exe and displaying progress
Search: Search indexed music folders by any string
Recent: Ordered list of recently modified folders

This function is optional. To activate download following zip and extract to script dir.
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/435301/script/indexer_1289431434.zip [~ 1 mb]

Or compile the included perl source to indexer.exe.

Benefits / Cons:

+ Once indexed it's faster than using the media library.
+ ML is using plenty memory for large collections.

- Depends on folder naming
- No tag search, use the ML for this
- No monitoring; if you add a folder have to index again

[New in version 1.04]

- Revised playlist functions

Press 'Menu key' / '7' for active playlist, current track is highlighted.
Press '8' for direct access to playlist menu.
Select and play track (using simple enumeration and 'default action').

- Queue features

New menu items for album / track queueing.
Queued items are added to active playlist, not necessarily 'Remote Selection'.

- Get path to executable via com server.
- Plus various optimizations.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Install]

[1] Install Foosion's COM Automation server
http://foosion.foobar2000.org/0.9/

[2] Install foo_cmd_playlist
http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=47148
http://repiv.yoerk.net/foobar/foo_cmd_playlist_0.0.2.zip

[3] Move folder to My Clicker Scripts

[4] Add foobar2k to Clicker Items

See included readme file for details.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I need more information to help troubleshooting.
Please verify .. everything else working? All necessary components installed according to readme?
What OS / foobar version are you using?

Please check all necessary components are installed and working.
When you open the task manager look for "COMServer2Helper.exe" (foobar running).
Are you using additional customization plugins?

//Edit: No problem here with v0.9.6.4.

First of all: Great job on this!!!
Works fine for me with foobar 0.9.6.4. Everybody having trouble getting this script to work should do a clean re-install of foobar.
I had foobar 0.9.5.2 installed and it didn't work when I just installed the new version without removing the old one first - I couldn't get the com automation server to run correctly.

Although the script works pretty good right now, I still see some room for improvement:

1. When you choose a track out of a playlist, it doesn't play the specified track but the first track in the playlist. It would be really nice if you could choose a track directly.

2. When you click on the playlist icon in the main screen, you get back to the overview of all playlists. Imho it would be more practical if you got to the current playlist first, with the option of going back to the overview by clicking the back-button, so you could browse the titles without using the next/previous-buttons. This would require 1., of course.

I'm not into coding, so I don't know if these features are actually possible. Anyway, thanks for the effort you and OddbOd had with this fo far, I bet you've made some long time foobar users like me really happy :D
(..) clean re-install of foobar.
Thanks for posting your solution!
Additional info to validate the setup for those having trouble: Open foobar > file > preferences > tools. You should see a new submenu 'COM Automation server' with status 'Running' for server and helper.
1.
I've tried to implement this functionality, of course -- unfortunately, without luck.
2.
If 1. is possible (I don't think so) this would indeed be more practical. I'll have another look and post an update if something is achieved.

cheers

I have tried to run the app in the new foobar2000 version 1.0, but when i run the .js script I get a run time error - object expected, code 800A138F.

I have also tried to run it in foobar2000 version 0.9.6, but with the same result.

Can it be that I do not run the script the way it is supposed to be run ?

I am a newbie and don't understand the meaning of this:

[3] Open included .js and point [var exe = ".."] to your foobar executable
Mind the space "(..) "

What does this exactly mean if you are to explain it to a beginner ?

I have installed the components foo_comserver2 (version 0.7 alpha 6) and the foo_cmd_playlist (version 0.0.2).

The COM Automation Server is running (Server and Helper).

Jhnry, I'm still running 0.9.6.6. Might be the automation server won't work with v.1 (it's not been updated in quite a while), however I haven't tested it.

//Edit: Finally managed to update .. comserver cooperates just fine with 1.0.2.1 8)

foo_cmd_playlist needs upgrade to 0.0.2 (http://repiv.yoerk.net/foobar/foo_cmd_playlist_0.0.2.zip)

Rendboell, please check your system is setup correctly - clicker and windows scripting. See if other scripts are working.
In task manager you should find comserver2helper.exe (fb2k running).

If this doesn't help check out the comserver documentation and try talking to it via other languages, e.g. perl, vbs etc.
Open included .js and..
Should look like: var exe = "C:\\PROGRAM FILES\\Foobar2000\\foobar2000.exe ";

Update 06-05: New version attached (see first post)

Ty bubbles for the feedback and kind words, glad you like the script :)

New version attached (see first post) - hope it's working well enough.

Anyone feel free adding suggestions for touch phones 'cause I can't evaluate myself (no such phone available atm).

//Edit: Apparently some posts were lost / removed (??)
