I've had a few requests for a MediaPortal script, so here is a beta version. I have not tested the TV functions, as my capture card is out of action. Everything else should work though.

Took a look at it, nice coding, but there is a big problem. If people use a different language than english, it will not work. So you either have to find a unique way of identifying what media portal is doing, or add every language, instead of just english.

Interesting point. I see no easy solution to that, short of people changing the script manually.

I've updated the file (see initial post) to include a pause toggle when holding down the dpad selector, and altered the TV window title so that channel change should work. Let me know about that though as I am unable to test it.

It is designed primarily for pda, but should also work on a phone. Any feedback on functionality on either device type would be much appreciated.

well I was going to test it for you on my pda but unfortunately I think mediaportal's a load of rubbish after the play with it I had last night. Doesnt like second drives, doesnt like folders inside folders. It looks like I'm sticking with wmp and itunes for the time being.

Sorry fella

It sounds to me like you did not configure MediaPortal properly. You can add as many drives as you like, and it absolutely supports folders in folders. Play around with the settings a bit more.

I did, I'm pretty well up on pc's, and it did not like my configuration, simple as. Don't ask me why, it detected them all and then decided it wouldn't show them, I even manually set the folders and it didn't show them. So after spending nearly an hour playing around trying to get it sorted I uninstalled it.

Levi,

You gave up after only an hour?! It takes at least a full day of me tinkering to get mad then about 2 days later I finally give up if I dont fix it by then(which is very rare).

SirLoinOfBeef,

Is there a GUI for this on the device? I am running WM5 and all I have is the screen that says what button do what and the only ones that work are the directional buttons and the select botton. I am able to navigate and select features but I am not able to jump directly to something like DVD from weather or weather from a TV. Although the other one that I saw in this post http://www.salling.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4035 didnt work at all except to open MP.

When I know my pc inside and out and a program doesn't do atleast the basics of what I want within an hour then the program isn't worth having in my view. The program couldn't even import my music and videos, I think that says enough about the program in its current release.

There is no GUI other than what you have described.

It sounds like you have worked out the direction pad.
The '=' is the context menu softkey in Salling Clicker,
and the '?' is the help softkey in Salling Clicker.
Using these you should be able to navigate back and forth to any function within MediaPortal.

Does that help?

hello, i have used this script for sometime and finally decided to improve it for my use.

i dont know if posting my modifications is illegal as the original script is not mine but if its not illegal i would upload it so people can use it if they want.

for me now, the script is perfect in my N70 thats why after putting some hours to it i would like to share it in case anyone else may find it usefull

so tell me if it is legal and if anyone its interested.

ps. in case i finally upload it, all credit should be to SirLoinOfBeef for creating the script and for making it so easy to modify to suit everyones needs.
