I downloaded the new Salling Media Sync and my phone is recognized (it's a Nokia 5300).
The problem is that there seem to be no playlists available... any suggestions? |

Hi,
Where are you not seeing the playlists? On the phone or the computer?
If on the phone, I think with this model you need to "update" the library on the phone before the playlists show.
EDIT: I just realized this this part of the forums was open to guests. This, unfortunately, opens the flood-gates to spammers. If you need to reply, you need to register (or you can send a support email).
Best.

I cannot see any playlists on the computer. Despite the fact that iTunes holds a couple of them. It's the current version of iTunes and here are the links to screenshots:

Sounds like maybe you have (1) moved your iTunes Music folder while (2) not getting rid of the original iTunes Music folder..
Does that make sense to you?
Check here: iTunes -> Preferences -> Advanced -> iTunes Music folder location
What does it say?
Also, what version of iTunes are you on?
Best.

hmm.. actually I haven't moved the folder - my username is "bietiekay" on my machine and iTunes uses:
improbability drive:Benutzer:bietiekay:Musik:iTunes Music:
this is what it displays... actually the whole music itself isn't located there (but all the podcasts) - the music itself is located on a network drive...
So maybe if I understand you right: I do have that iTunes Music folder on the local drive containing the podcasts and bought music and a MP3 folder on a network drive containing the rest of the mp3 files.

I am using iTunes 7.7.1.

Thanks for the additional info. Could you please email me your "iTunes Music Library.xml" file? Zipped up, please. Use the Email button below/above. I'll figure out what's going on here.
Best.

Problem solved!
Turns out the issue has to do with podcast episodes that have incomplete metadata. More specifically, the gathering of playlists and podcasts will fail if a podcast track in your iTunes library lacks an entry for "Album".
To solve the problem, these podcast tracks much be removed from your library (until I've posted 1.0.2 which will work around the problem). The easiest way to identify the problematic tracks is:
1. In iTunes, select the Podcasts source
2. Add the column "Album" (right-click the table header to select what columns to show).
3. Identify podcast episodes where this column is empty, and remove them.
4. Re-plug your device
Many thanks to forum member "bietiekay" for helping me track this down.
Best.
