Hey there...

I've been using Media Sync for a little while now to get my music on to my Touch Pro (Sprint). It has worked just fine over the past couple of weeks... here's a little extra info:

-iTunes 8.0.2
~300 songs in iTunes library (only have about 50 set to sync)
-Windows 7

Does not sync when connected to USB or bluetooth. The bar at the bottom of Media Sync never shows any songs, checking playlists to be synced just result in the error described below (I get the same error when connecting the phone, too)

I understand that Windows 7 is a pre-release, but it was working for a few weeks before the errors started showing up. I have tried re-installing Media Sync a few times, with no luck. I also have tried running the Media Sync .exe as an administrator. (have windows 7's default UAC on still)

I get SQLite errors, quite a few...

Here's a copy+paste of one of the error message details:

just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.[/code:1]

Hello!

The error seems to indicate that the database got seriously corrupted. The only thing I can suggest at this point is that you trash the database and try again, to see if the problem manifests itself again.

I think the easiest way to do this would be to trash the MediaSyncDeviceId.txt file from your storage card. This will make Salling Media Sync create a new sync database for your phone, when you next plug in the phone.

After doing this, your first order of business will be to clean up stuff synced "under the old sync database". Click Summary->Browse, and select to remove all music that you find (and you're sure was synced with the software).

From there on, you will be able to use the application as you normally would.

Best.

Thank you for the quick reply, I really am impressed!

I have removed the device id text file on the card... still getting the same end result.

I don't know what you mean by saying go to Summary > Browse... but I also have tried formatting the card entirely to remove any music that had been synchronized to it... I also picked up a new 8gb micro SDHC on black friday that is giving me the same result.

Could a corrupted iTunes library file be causing the same issue? If there's a possibility, I'll wipe it and just re-add the songs.

I just realized that my suggested solution was wrong, at least the part about removing the ID files (not that it hurt, in this case, though).

You'll need to find and remove the actual database file, which is a bit more difficult.

1. Quit Salling Media Sync
2. Go here in Explorer "%APPDATA%"
3. If W7 works like Vista, navigate up one directory
4. The down into "Local", and possible into "Application Settings"
5. You'll find a directory named "Salling_Software_AB"
6. Then inside, a directory named "Salling_Media_Sync"
7. And inside, a file named "SyncTables3.db"

Please *email* me this file (so I can see what might have happened to it), and then trash it.

I you can find your way around the file system for this file; I am currently not at a Vista machine, and don't quite remember the exact names of all the directories.

Best.

Wonderful!

Windows 7 is exactly like Vista, as far as most of the back end is concerned, even Vista (and therefore, XP as well) drivers still work. I think this is how Microsoft should have done Vista in the first place... but that's off topic :)

For reference, the final folder path ended up being:

C:\Users\(USER NAME)\AppData\Local\Salling_Software_AB\Salling_Media_Sync

Which is the same for Vista.

e-mail will be on its way out!

Edit: I forgot to say, that seems to have fixed the issue! Would it be possible to have the uninstaller clean up that file when it is run? This way, a reinstall would correct the problem for those who do not know that file is there.

Thanks so much for the assistance!
