You're not supposed to install anything on the phone, so I don't understand the problem.

One thing I forgot to mention in my post above was that when I downloaded today, the file is a .DMG file and the system fails to recognise it.
Elsewhere, I also saw that this software does not support 5800 yet. I might as well wait then |

You're posting this in the Windows section of the forum, so I presume you have a Windows PC.
Please download the Windows version of the application: it works.
Best.

Thank you
I downloaded and installed the program on the desktop
then when I connected the phone, nothing happened On completion of the installation, I thought the program would launch
It did not even though the relative box was clicked
Then, I right clicked the icon and tried registartion where I could not give the Serial Number since I had downloaded the free version
Do I have to do anything after installation for the program to launch?
I really like this program
If purchasing is the only option, please let me know
I will pay for it
I thought I will try the free version first but it does not seem to work

The 5800 works fine.
I'm assuming you have WMP11 or better on your PC? Also, I'm assuming you're selecting the correct USB mode when connecting your phone (i.e. the one specified in the Connect Device panel)?
Best.

I am using Vista
I cannot see the WMP version but I suppose Vista is OK
Also, I connected the phone in media transfer mode as indicated by the phones list
But after the connection, nothing happens. It just says Phone connected in non-compatible mode
How do I go to the Salling software screen ?

It's PC Suite giving that complain. Ignore it.
When connected in this mode, does the phone show up in Explorer?
Best.

I do not know what you mean by explorer
The phone is shown on the device manager as "portable device"

I mean Windows Explorer. The thing you use to work with files on your PC.
If things work the way they should with the device, the phone will show there, under "Computer", along with your hard drives, etc.
Best.

Sorry, it does not show under Computer along with other hard drives/DVD drive.
Probably, there is some problem with the way I have connected the phone. But it shows under device manager
Can I contact you over phone so that this can be thrashed out?
If OK, kindly let me have your phone no
If this works, I shall surely purchase the regular version

By the way, after sending the above msg, I disconnected the phone and connected it in PC Suite mode and then it shows in the windows browser along with other hard drives/DVD drive as a Portable Device -Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Mobile Phone
It also shows while connected in Image Transfer Mode but does not show if connected in Media Transfer Mode
In fact, when connnected in Image Transfer Mode, the Salling Media menu pops up besides the phone showing itself in the windows browser
Anyway, can you give me your telephone No so that I can call you

Sorry, but I'm unable to offer phone support.
I recommend you try connecting the phone in Media transfer mode on a *different* computer; this will let us know whether the issue is with the phone or with the computer.
Best.

Finally, it works
As suggested by you, I tried with a different PC but again the same problem
I realised the problem was with the phone and tried to check the software version and found out that I had not updated the software and which I did and Salling now works.
Now I shall upgrade as I find that the free version takes too long by removing all the songs etc., and copying them all over again.
Just one point. In the case of songs, it syncs them as per the options given by me but I do not think it works the same way in the case of podcasts.
In 5800 XpressMusic, we have this Podcasting through which the podcasts are sync'd and listened to through the Music option.
While syncing through Salling, it does not seem to be making any change to the Podcasting and the episodes to be listened to through the Musicplayer option do not seem to be the ones as selected by me.
Can you explain how the podcast syncing is done with the use of Salling and what is the role of Podcasting
Should I delete all the episodes previously selected by me in Podcasting?
