My music and playlists transfer perfectly to my HTC Shadow, but the cover art does not transfer.

Hi,

Artwork, if embedded in the iTunes track (please see this KB item: http://www.salling.com/MediaSync/windows/faq/topic.php?id=2) is transfered (after down-scaling) to the phone.

It's possible that the media player on your phone does not accept artwork this way (the new media player that comes with the supported HTC models do).

Best.

My phone does support album artwork because I used to use WMP to sync my music and it had artwork. I will try the method you suggested from the link, but the only problem is that that looks very tedious as it would need to be done manually. Is there any way to automate it?

I think WMP may not support artwork embedded in the music tracks (but I could be wrong; I do know that WMP uses an older, archaic, method to deliver artwork to the phone), so I suggest you try this with a track or two first, to see if it makes any difference.

Either way, getting album artwork out of iTunes (unless iTunes has embedded it into the track already; pls see the KB article I linked to) is "non-trivial" (close to impossible, as far as I've been able to gather. On the Mac, though, there's a way and we use it).

Btw. Does WMP play m4a tracks for you? If yes, does it properly interpret the track's metadata (album, artist, etc)?

Best.
