I installed MediaSync for Mac 1.1.3 a few weeks ago. Today I was syncing some music and photos to my Palm Pre when the battery on my laptop died mid-sync. Half the files are visible on my palm pre, but when I tried to re-sync my Pre to my Mac, it does not see those files (even when selecting the browse function). It tells me I have 3.2GB capacity on 3.2GB of available space instead of 3.2GB capacity on 6.4GB of available space. The files appear to be hidden on the device even in USB mode on another computer.

The last time this happened I had to reset, wipe, and restore my device - a process that took hours. I don't want to do this again. What can I do to fix this without resetting my device, and what can I do to keep this from happening in the future?

Not making sure the computer doesn't run out of battery can be problematic.

This means the phone isn't cleanly unmounted from the computer, and can cause problems.

I don't know exactly what to make of what you're telling me (you're saying the music tracks that are visible in the Pre's media player aren't visible when you mount the device; perhaps you're not looking in the right place?).

Here's my suggestion:

1. Quit Salling Media Sync
2. Mount the phone on your computer.
3. Trash the file "MediaSyncDeviceID.txt" from your phone. This will dissociate what's previously been synced, making it visible in "Browse".
4. Launch Salling Media Sync
5. Click "Browse". Select to delete content if you want to.
6. Sync again.

If there's file system corruption on the phone's storage due to the battery run-out, the trick above won't help.

Best.
