I just noticed that albums that consist of m4as are sorted by title, not by track number. That does not happen for mp3 (unless I d&d mp3 manually). (The m4a are from the iTMS.)

Desired functionality: Have those sorted by track number as well :)

Device: Motorola Milestone / Android 2.0

Thanks!

Haven't heard of this before, but I think you need to ask Google for this. ;-) We can't make the phone not ignore the "track number" metadata it's provided by us.

Are you sure about your conclusion that this always doesn't work for m4a tracks?

I don't encode m4a myself, so I can only speak for those files that come from the iTunes Music Store. But those, I just confirmed, are sorted by title, not by track number.

Also, I tested both very recent and older purchases from the iTMS - they're all sorted by title.

I googled a bit, but it seems it's not possible to tell if this is a Android specific issue, the default music player issue, or maybe even just a Milestone issue.

Just letting you know. I guess I'll end up finally converting those files to mp3… Android and music is craptacular. Without Media Sync, even my mp3 wouldn't be sorted and automagically transferred.

Just as an update: the issue on Google Code. Please help this problem getting solved by starring this issue. This is not a problem with Salling.

This seems to be a known Android (and even more likely, a Milestone) issue. Although the tracks are orderer alphabetically, a long press and then play on the album still plays them in the correct order – at least most of the time.
