Apple Design Award winning Salling Clicker updatedadds support for Palm and Sony Ericsson T616
Stockholm, SwedenSeptember 3, 2003Salling Software AB today announced the immediate availability of Salling Clicker v.2.0, a substantial update to its award-winning software that lets users remotely control Macintosh applications from a handheld device over Bluetooth.
"This is a very exciting upgrade," said Jonas Salling, Salling Software's creative force and president. "Not only does Salling Clicker v.2.0 add support for cool new hardware; we think our customers will enjoy the features: live-updating, our brand-new iPhoto integration, and the clever activity awareness technology."
While listening to music in iTunes, the latest version of Clicker allows you to see where you are at in a song, or what song is currently playing. Using the same technology, slide notes in PowerPoint are now presented on the display of your handheld, where they belong. Some might call this cheating, but we call it "live-updating", and we think our users are going to love it.
The brand-new iPhoto integration, with picture slide show functionality, lets you search your iPhoto library by date or description, even giving you a chance to preview pictures (Palm only) before showing them on the LCD-projector. There has never been an easier way to give picture slide shows that go beyond the script.
In Salling Clicker 2.0, the original concept of proximity sensing has been extended to include more general "activity awareness". When you pick up your phone to receive or make a call, Clicker can pause iTunes or DVD player for you; when you hang up, the music or movie will resume automatically. Speaking of the possibilities for this technology, Salling said "it may seem like a gimmick, and I admit it is a lot of fun, but I really think there are serious uses for this, like automatically pulling up information from a sales management system when a client calls. I would love to see this stuff in use with FileMaker or Marketcircle's DayLite."
In summary, major new features and improvements in Salling Clicker v.2.0 include:
- Support for palmOne Tungsten T handhelds and Sony Ericsson T616;
- Makes use of graphics capabilities on Pals OS handhelds:
- Activity awareness technology, including proximity sensing (on phones only);
- Upgraded functionality with iTunes, Keynote, PowerPoint, and DVD Player;
- All-new functionality with iPhoto; and
- Drag-and-drop installation of new actions from most web browsers and email clients
